"A" is for...

I took Naomi to the sprayground today.  As is our custom, I didn't tell her about it until we got there.  Seriously folks, this is THE best way to eliminate the nagging and incessant questioning that is inevitable when you tell your child you are going to take them somewhere fun.

So we pull up and get out and I get her nice and lathered up with sunblock.  We start to walk over to the play area and she turns to me and says very sincerely, "I really appreciate you bringing me here today."

I guess forcing her to read the dictionary is really starting to pay off, ehh?

Snorkel Buddies

While we were in Kauai, we went to the beach or the pool just about everyday and for the first several days Naomi did not want to try snorkeling.  This was after I bought her snorkel gear at Costco because she was so excited to try it.  So one day I basically forced her to try it (before you render me a bad Mom let me just say she is actually a very good swimmer now and it's not like we sent her out there on her own or something) and just like I knew she would, she LOVED LOVED LOVED it and caught on very quickly.

She would use Henry as a platform so to speak to sit/lay on while she would adjust her goggles, empty the water out of them, wipe the fog off, etc.  They would float out there for an hour at a time just about checking out all the fish on the reef.  Needless to say, their backs got very tan.

Why do they...

This not-so-little guy (or girl...I didn't pull the tail up and check or anything) swam up on the beach yesterday at Poi'pu.  It's hard to tell in the picture but he/she was huge.  We weren't allowed to get any closer then about 20 feet or so. 

I swear he/she got all the way up on the beach, looked around, saw all of us weirdos with our cameras snapping his/her picture, got disgusted and turned right back around.  It was very cool though no matter how brief his/her visit.
