Polly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Day

Quick update on Polly.  She's all better...completely.  Mysterious vomit-inducing, blood in the pee illness is gone.

See I told you it was quick.

P.S. I got the thinking that I should have been suspicious of her diagnosis due to the fact that the vet that saw her that day was named Dr. Skip.  Not sure whether that was his first or last name.  He was too weird to ask.

Give Till It Hurts

The "Friends of Henry" fund as has been previously written about here and here calls upon each and everyone of your now to reach deep into you pockets and give to the "Friends of Polly" fund.  The sole beneficiary is a chihuahua/daschund mix, a chi-wienie if you will, who goes by the name of Polly.

She threw up three mornings in a row and started sleeping a lot so I took her to the vet on Thursday.  One $200 urinalysis and blood test later and they tell me something is going on with her kidneys.  Basically what it boils down to is that either her body is making to much urea OR her kidneys are not able to filter the normal amount her body makes OR both.  What is going on doesn't normally happen in such a young dog.  They said that a dog that presents with this problem would be closer to 10 years old or something like that.

Oh but wait it gets even more mysterious.  The vet tells me that it could be...and hopefully this is what it turns out to be...a freakish one-time occurrence.  He said small dogs tend to have bizarre health problems pop up and then just go away.  So I get to fork over another $200 this week to have the tests done again AND possible more money for an x-ray to check for kidney stones.  I also had to buy prescription dog food that is easier for her to digest to deal with the vomiting symptom, which thankfully has helped.  I haven't cleaned up a pile of vomit since Thursday.  Here's to small victories!!!

What is worse?  Forking out all the money for a dog OR the thought of having a terminally ill dog, having to put it down and trying to explain it to your 4-year-old.  I think I'd rather cough up a pile of cash if it would for sure make her better.  I just don't think I can handle the task of telling Naomi her dog ran away and is living on a farm in the country and won't be back.

It says..."Crunchy"

I came across a note I had written to Henry during the meeting some time ago.  It read,  "I told Naomi to quit biting her nails.  She said, 'Ok but let me finish this one.'"

P.S.  How on earth do you get a 4-year-old to stop chewing her nails? I'm still baffled as to how she got started doing it in the first place.

Enchanting

We're were watching "Enchanted" for the millionth time today and did you know that the lady who plays the character of Robert's secretary is the same lady who does the voice of Ariel in the Little Mermaid movies?  Well she is.  I don't recall how I stumbled upon that piece of that seemingly useless bit of trivia. 

BUT if I didn't know that I probably would have never noticed that in a scene with the two of them talking in his office lobby that the Muzak playing in the lobby is the song "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid.

There's either some really clever movie-makers out there or I've just seen the movie one too many times.  Or both.
